In October last year, our van was written off in an accident. Thankfully, no animals or humans were harmed, but it did cause a problem for our care!
At our branch we take in cats and dogs that have had the worst life experiences, either by cruel treatment or neglect. This means we often care for animals with severe injuries, medical conditions and those who require frequent medical attention. We have fantastic veterinary support from the RSPCA Animal Hospital in Salford, where we can take our animals at any time for treatment and medical attention.
This means our van is crucial to their care, with staff taking animals for treatment or therapy every few days.
An appeal was launched and you were so generous with support that we were able to buy our replacement van in January 2020! After a few months of working out safe travel, we were finally able to manage our own travel times and keep the costs low.
Now it’s nearly six months on, and we’ve already clocked up 2,600 miles in the new van! Your support means we have a sturdy van well capable of managing the 500+ miles a month we go for essential care and medication. It’s also made sure our cats and dogs stay safe and comfortable on their journey, which speeds their recovery.
