Big Walkies 2017

Don’t walk away from animal cruelty, walk to stop it.

Come and join us for the biggest and waggiest sponsored dog walk!

Sunday 24th September at Bents Garden & Home.

Registration opens 12pm. Walk starts 1pm. Event closes 4pm.

Big Walkies 2017 is a 5k walk for you and your four-legged friends. If you don’t have a dog you can still take part too!

Enjoy a scenic walk through Windy Bank Woods starting from Bents Garden & Home with fellow dog lovers.

Big Walkies is a fundraising event so we ask all participants to raise as much money as they can via sponsorship. Register today and start raising money to help animals that have suffered abuse and neglect. Your £10 registration fee will include an RSPCA wristband for you and a bandana for your dog.

Register, in advance, for a reduced registration fee of £10 per person (16+). Under 16’s go free, plus £5 for each additional dog. Select your ticket type based on the number of dogs you are bringing, extra humans charged separately if over 16 years.

To book your place without paying the additional booking fee, please email our fundraiser,  Please include in your email how many adults (16+), children and dogs will be attending the event.

Register on the day for a fee of £20 and £5 per additional dog.

Bents Garden & Home will also be hosting a number of stalls to help us raise vital funds. Take part in our tombola, raffle, fun games and many other stalls in and around Bents Pet Place.

Vacancy: Animal Centre Manager

Animal Centre Manager

Term: Permanent Contract
Probationary period: 6 months.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including regular weekend working, exact working pattern to be agreed
Salary range: £ 18,000.00 to £23,000 p.a. dependent on experience.

We’re seeking a committed new team member to be responsible for the operational management of Warrington Animal Centre, Slutchers Lane, Warrington, WA1 1NA. You’ll be passionate about animal welfare, with significant experience of managing a team, animal handling and facilities management.


Our centre currently operates as a closed centre, boarding animals removed from situations of cruelty, neglect and abuse by inspectors and rehabilitating them whilst their cases progress through the legal process before transferring them to other branches for rehoming.

Overview of the role:
• Required to manage a team of 12 staff members (9 FTE), plus volunteers and   placement students.
• Responsible for the welfare of the animals in our care.
• Maintain the premises and equipment, so they comply with all current Health and Safety legislation and to be responsible for the health and safety of staff (and any general public) at the animal centre.
•  To maintain those office systems, including filing and basic financial management, required for the operation of the animal centre
• To be responsible for the delivery of RSPCA standard procedures and all other appropriate training and to maintain staff training records.
